This painting is basically in very good condition, but needs a light clean and re-varnish. The composition is excellent with good balance of color throughout. The original frame was in poor condition and has been discarded.
The artist’s name and the subject matter suggests he was European, probably German, Austrian, or Swiss. A Nick Gampp in Ohio has been identified as a practicing artist, however, and of course there could be other possibilities for the authorship of this painting.
