Born in Chartres in 1889, René Guillard originals such as this one are typically of little houses, of small villages and of country roads. The artist achieved consummate artistry when he began working with lithography in 1903. In his own lithographic shop on the outskirts of Paris he passed along to many younger artists the techniques acquired over many years. – from various Internet sources.
