Percy Robertson was an English artist born in Bellagio in Italy, son of Charles Robertson, R.W.S. He was educated at Charterhouse and exhibited at the principal London galleries from 1887, including the R.A. and R.I. He lived at Godalming, Surrey 1885, London 1901 and 1916, and Maidenhead, Berks, 1906. He painted and etched in the county of Surrey, including in Guildford from St Catherine’s Hill (1891), Shere (1899), and Albury (1905), and executed many views of the Thames.

In 1887, Robertson was elected to the Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, later to become the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. He was elected a full Fellow of the Society in 1908. He exhibited 33 artworks at the Royal Academy in London and166 works at the Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers. He was also a member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle and at the Ipswich Art Club, 1895-1905. Three of his works were displayed at the Centenary Exhibition in 1974 and the Cleveland Museum of Art hold examples of his etchings.

Robertson’s artworks are held by Godalming Museum. HIs etching, Richmond, Yorkshire, is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
