Portrait painter in oil, water-colour and tempera. Born at Wargrave. Studied art at the R.C.A. under Rothenstein and Short 1920-23. Received a travelling scholarship 1924. Exhibited at the R.A., N.E.A.C., and in the provinces. Lived at Rugby and later at Firle in Sussex. – from Dictionary of Bristish Artists Working 1900-1950.

Walker joined the staff of Southover Manor School, Lewes in 1953 where she taught art. Her work appeared in the AIA Newsletter/Bulletin. David Buchman, Artists in Britain Since 1945, lists her as working through 1969, but this painting is dated 1976 suggesting a much longer active period.

Also by this artist:

Despite a long working life, no examples of her art has been discovered – except the painting listed here. Sometimes failure to locate information about an artist is due to a change in their name. This is particularly relevant in the case of females when changing their marital status.
